Shopping in Hawaii

Hawaii is a shoppers paradise. If you are coming to Hawaii to find gifts for friends, relatives and coworkers back home, you will find there are many types of treasures for you to return home with.

The island of Oahu is the most popular shopping destination in Hawaii. Each year millions of visitors from around the world come to Oahu not just to enjoy surf and sand, but also to shop.

The world renowned Waikiki area of Oahu has always been a popular shopping place. In the past few years Waikiki has remade itself into a tropical island Rodeo Drive, with all of the high-end designer boutiques and shops. Strolling along Kalakaua Avenue you’ll find Prada, Channel, Louis Vitton, Tiffany, and of course there is an ABC store on almost every corner. At The ABC Store you can buy anything from suntan lotion to Macadamia Nuts, and almost everything in between.

If you want the thrill of perusing the finest name stores and boutiques without the buzz of cars and trolleys you can visit Ala Moana Center.  The Ala Moana Center is just across the street from Ala Moana Beach Park and is Hawaii’s premier shopping, entertainment, and dining destination – with over 260 stores and venues in a unique indoor/outdoor environment. Located just 20 minutes from Honolulu International airport, and within walking distance of most Waikiki hotels, Ala Moana Center is Hawaii's shopping destination for visitors and residents alike. The center is building an entire wing of new stores anchored by a brand new Nordstrom’s department store

Not far from Ala Moana is the Ward Warehouse Shopping Center. Right across from Fisherman’s Ward, Ward Warehouse offers shops, restaurants and entertainment galore.

Downtown Honolulu offers some shopping opportunities like the Fort Street Mall, Macy’s Department store and Ross Discount Store.

Not far from Downtown is the busy local shopping area of Chinatown. Here is the best place to buy leis and explore the small shops and various Asian food vendors of the marketplace.

Others part of Oahu offer different shopping experiences. The North Shore is a collection of funky shops and galleries that offer a more laid back shopping experience. Locals can be found doing their shopping at Pearlridge Center in Aiea or at the Windward Mall in Kaneohe, or Kahala Mall in the very upscale Kahala neighborhood.
