Molokai the "Friendly Isle".
During the 1800's people stricken with Hansen's Disease (leprosy) were banished to the shores of the island of Molokai. Now you can tour the deserted colonies at Kaulapapa, but you will have to hike or take a mule ride to get there. Molokai is the least developed of the major islands of Hawaii. Its slow and laid back pace is light years away from it's neighbor Oahu, just 25 miles away. |
